Teaching Experience

I integrate information from other disciplines (history, archaeology, and other languages) into my language instruction. Brigham Young University is a rare place where one can integrate the gospel of Jesus Christ and the scriptures into classes. I try to relate the material that I am teaching with things that my students already know.

Research

The purpose of the William (Bill) Gay Research Chair is to support scholarship in fields of study directly related to ancient scripture study, such as Egyptology and other relevant ancient languages and disciplines and to contribute in a significant way to further knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the scriptural heritage of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As the William (Bill) Gay Research Professor I strive to fulfill the purposes of the chair in my research. I research both the ancient world and ancient scripture and strive to integrate the two.
