Biography
Marc Yamada received a BA in Japanese and International Relations and a MA in Comparative Studies from Brigham Young University and a PhD in Japanese Literature & Culture from UC Berkeley. Marc has published articles on modern Japanese literature, film, and manga and a book on Japan’s Heisei Period: Locating Heisei in Japanese Fiction & Film: the Historical Imagination of the Lost Decades (Routledge, 2019). He is the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship, a scholarship from The Japanese Ministry of Education, and a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from the US Department of Education. Marc has lived with his wife, Mikilani, and sons, Kyle and Sean, in Tokyo, Berkeley, Iowa City, and Winston Salem. They are excited to be back at BYU!
