Biography

Mark Wolfersberger earned a BA in Japanese Teaching and an MA in TESOL from Brigham Young University. After working full-time for several years at BYU's English Language Center in Provo, Utah, he moved with his family to New Zealand, where he earned a PhD in Second Language Teaching and Learning from the University of Auckland. After completing his PhD, Mark worked for 18 years at Brigham Young University–Hawaii in Laie, Hawaii, where he taught linguistics and TESOL as well as academic English to BYUH international students. Additionally, Mark trained new faculty at BYUH in instructional methods for four years as a member of BYUH’s Center for Learning and Teaching. At BYU, Mark has enjoyed applying his language teaching skills within the Editing and Publishing program, where he strives to develop within students a deep love for English grammar and a keen eye for errors.

Grammar pedagogy, teacher development, student and professional identity.
