Biography

Samuel López-Alcalá was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1976. He grew up and attended school in the capital city of Spain, but moved with his family to Alcalá de Henares, a historic university town northeast of Madrid, in his early teens. In 2000, Samuel graduated with a BA in Translation and Interpreting from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (sponsored by the Catholic Church and the Society of Jesus). Samuel López-Alcalá is an experienced translator and interpreter, and has also held management positions in the language industry in Spain.

Translation history, translation theory.

Teaching Interests

Translator and interpreter training and the research and application of best practices for translation competence development.
