Biography

Ahlan! I am an Arabic teacher and applied linguistics researcher. I specialize in second language acquisition. My work seeks to uncover the seemingly hidden dynamics of human interaction through a study of how language learners interact across settings - whether in a classroom, a café, or a living room.

I love being part of the spirit stretching and character strengthening that comes with language learning. My research and teaching help students to enhance their sense of sociolinguistic agency and to view linguistic knowledge as part of a larger toolset for meaningful connection with others.

I am also an experienced translator and interpreter. In my free time, I enjoy the brain bending process of translating song lyrics, and I love finding good Arabic musalsalaat, but usually, you'll find me at lakes and bike trails with my wife and three boys.
