Biography

Yina Ma Patterson is an adjunct Chinese instructor at Brigham Young University. She received a Ph.D. in Linguistics with an emphasis on Chinese Linguistics, and a minor in Second language studies from Indiana University. She also obtained an M.A. in Linguistics from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting (English Translation emphasis) from Northeastern University, China. Her Chinese teaching experience ranges from beginning to advanced level courses at Brigham Young University and at the summer language program at Indiana University. She also worked in the Chinese Flagship Program at Indiana University for 5 years.

Research Interests

Her research interests include Chinese linguistics, Chinese pedagogy, and second language studies.
