"I can't work with them." "It's too daunting to even think about talking to them." These are common refrains in increasingly polarized societies, leading to feelings of apathy, helplessness, anger, and division, all of which perpetuate a cycle of further polarization. This talk will provide examples of how to break that polarization cycle, with stories of finding common ground between some of the most unlikely antagonists. Learn practical lessons from national and international conflicts that you can apply to your own life and communities.

Stacia George is the CEO of Endurance Solutions and a senior strategist at Global Reach, an organization that helps families of American hostages and detainees get their family members home. She has a long career as a conflict resolution practitioner, focusing on mediation and negotiation in many of the world's most challenging conflicts. She has held senior roles at both The Carter Center and USAID focused on peacebuilding.
