Kerry Soper Appointed as Department Chair for Comparative Arts & Letters

Kerry Soper has been appointed as department chair for the Department of Comparative Arts & Letters. Soper succeeds Carl Sederholm, who has served in this capacity since 2015. “Carl Sederholm has been an exemplary and effective leader, helping the department expand with the addition of Art History and demonstrating respect and love for his faculty," commented Dean Miller. "He has willingly agreed to continue his service as chair through the balance of 2021 while Professor Soper co-directs the London Study Abroad Program during fall semester.”

Soper will begin his appointment as chair January first.

His areas of research include popular culture (American and British), comedy, satire, comics, film, American studies, and American art history.

“Kerry Soper is a nationally respected scholar and artist with solid university service experience," said Dean Miller. "He will continue a legacy of strong, humane leadership in the department.”
