We all speak a second language, whether we know it or not! While your second language might be Spanish or French, it could also be the language of the Spirit, art, poetry, dance, or love. This year, our College campaign focuses on making connections through all of these different languages, spoken or not.

Keep this in mind as you answer this year's writing contest prompt:

Write a short story, essay, or poem that explains how speaking a second language builds identity.

Submissions will be grouped into three categories: fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. The total character count (including spaces and punctuation) is limited to 7000 characters or fewer. Please remember to keep content in line with BYU's Honor Code as the top thirty winners will be featured on the short story dispensers around campus!
